Dictionary of War is a global series of events and an online collaborative platform intent on openly reevaluating and creating concepts of war. Der Derian's engagement in the Dictionary project came in September at Columbia University, where he gave a talk and presented a short video based on his new edition of Virtuous War: Mapping the Military-Industrial-Media-Entertainment-Network (Routledge, January 2009). Virtuous War, which charts the emergence and judges the consequences of this MIME-Net, now joins what will ultimately be a collection of 100 concepts of war - by scientists, artists, theorists, and activists around the world.
